My Experience with the Kits has been tremendously positive. From a kid who immediately opens the box and begins utilizing the star and stickers to a kid who felt deeply thankful that she was remembered, and finally to a parent with tears in her eyes that “such a thing was done for my child.

Just wanted to share a comment. A mother shared with me the other day, "how much her son loved his "prayer kit" and that he takes it everywhere he goes." She has named it a "prayer kit". Thanks again to Guideposts for making the comfort kits available to the patients we served at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta.

I was wondering if you have plans to design a kit for adolescents? The adolescent patient could also benefit from this type of kit with age appropriate items. I could really use it if you created it.

A chronic CF kid was admitted again and when they gave him the kit in the ED in preparation to be admitted here is what he said, "This is the greatest thing in the world." He was so depressed when he was told that he was going to be admitted. This kit took him off of his disappointment enough to get a handle on being admitted. Later he said to me, "This is so cool", and again later the mother told me that the kit was "neat and so compact". This is typical of the response I have been getting. The reception is as good with the parents as it is with the kid.

I was called to the pediatric unit to give a blessing to a 7 year old that was going for surgery, when I arrived she was very sacred when I was to about to say the blessing the nurse and the Dr. came in to explain about the procedure. The 7 year old was very scared and they proceeded to put the intravenous she started to scream and mom was crying and said “please help can you do something”. I was glad that I had the comfort Kit with me because that changed everything. I asked the staff if they will give me a few minutes to talk to the 7 year old and they did. I said that I had a gift for her and if it was ok I will show it to her. She unwrapped the Comfort Kit, I showed her all the stickers, sparkle the star pillow, the coloring book, the bracelet and we placed the big star with her name on the door. As we where doing this the nurse was able to put the intravenous in her arm with no problem. The child was ok, mom was grateful as well the staff. At the end we all read the prayer from the Comfort Kit. The 7 year old was bothered because she was not going to be able to color the beautiful pictures and write in the Comfort Kit Coloring Book because of the intravenous, mom was more then willing to help and that made her very happy.
