How Guideposts Supports This Military Wife

Kim Green of Steilacoom, Washington State, a long-time Guideposts reader, has the distinction of being the third generation of women in her family to send her new husband off to serve his country in a war.  Kim's grandfather fought in World War II, and her father in Vietnam, both shortly after marrying. None of these soldiers has been career Army – but they saw their duty and did it, and their new wives shared the sacrifice.

Gregg Green, an Army Chaplain assigned to a unit of 430 soldiers at Ft. Lewis, will depart for Afghanistan this summer for a year's tour of duty.  The part of Afghanistan to which he will go has not seen an American presence before, so for a few months Kim will not be able to communicate with him.

Asked what support she would seek during the year's separation, Kim says that she will continue to turn to Guideposts magazine. She especially appreciates the military stories as well as the accounts of amazing coincidences that, she says, "must be the hand of God."

Chaplain Gregg Green uses the military editions of Guideposts Outreach booklets in his ministry, and plans to make them available to the troops in Afghanistan. We will hold this patriotic couple in our prayers.
