Comfort Kit Brings Blessings and Joy to Children and Their Families

“There are people out there who care about us and our child…and have no idea who we are.” That’s a young mother referring to you, our generous donor, who makes this new Ministry of Comfort and Love to our nation’s hospitalized children and their families possible. Born with a life-threatening metabolic illness, Mary and Jack’s* newborn son Josh* began a series of treatments that continue to require regular hospital stays that at first were deeply upsetting for both parents and child. “Then one day,” Jack said, “the chaplain appeared and handed Josh Sparkle, the Caring Star—and then she disappeared!”

“Josh loved it —he was very young but the star was an image that he recognized,” Mary continued.

“It made him so happy. He stayed calm with it, and he held it the entire time.” As he got a little older, the Guideposts for Kids Comfort Kit grew right along with him, Jack said. “It provides continuity from visit to visit— every time we have to go back to the hospital, the Comfort Kit comes along.”

“It’s a gift not just for the child but a gift for the parents, too. Especially when it comes from Guideposts with all that support and prayer and it just builds you up.”

“And when you are with your child, and you can’t kiss it and make it better you need that support,” Mary tells us. “We’ll be able to use the Guideposts Comfort Kit for a long, long time.”
