What is the connection between Guideposts and Norman Vincent Peale?

Dr. Norman Vincent Peale was a Christian pastor and one of the most influential thinkers and communicators of our time. People all around the world credit Dr. Peale and his teachings with bringing happiness and success to their lives. For years Dr. Peale shared his principles at the Marble Collegiate Church in New York City and through speeches, radio messages, and his international best-seller The Power of Positive Thinking.

Over 60 years ago Dr. Peale and his wife Ruth Stafford Peale founded Guideposts as a way of reaching more people with their life-changing messages.

Today, Guideposts preserves and extends the vision of Dr. and Mrs. Peale. We carry on the publications that people have turned to for years. We continue to find new ways to reach today’s audiences, such as through phone lines and Web sites. True to the spirit of the Dr. and Mrs. Peale, the charitable Outreach ministries programs help assure that people from all walks of life have access to our services, including those with limited resources or other challenges.

The Peale Center for Christian Living and Guideposts, both not for profit organizations, were both founded by Dr. and Mrs. Norman Vincent Peale and merged into one entity in 1995.  Since their similarities were many, publishing inspirational magazines and books, as well as offering ministry programs of Prayer and complimentary distribution to service organizations, it was a seamless fit.  The Guideposts organization is the leading inspirational publisher in the United States, and our ministry programs, administered through Guideposts Outreach, help over 31 million people each year
